In this video I show you steps I take and techniques I use during the sketching process.

I think gouache sketching helps to build confidence with composition, color layering, and brushwork. Gouache sketching can also help with oil painting skills. Gouache and oil painting are very similar in terms of layering. You start with dark and thin layers and finish with light and thick ones.

This is a part of a challenge I´ve set myself where I need to sketch Chicago landscapes with gouache every day until I fill up my sketchbook. Check out other videos from that challenge.
